Description Usage Supplement Facts Barberry is an extract produced from the root of Mahonia aquifolium, commonly known as Oregon Grape Root. Nutramedix, the U.S. manufacturer of Barberry, utilizes a proprietary extraction and enhancement process that makes this product more effective than any other Mahonia aquifolium product available. Medicinal use of barberry dates as far back as ancient Egypt, when pharaohs and queens took it with fennel seed to ward off the plague. Barberry and goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) have very similar therapeutic uses because both herbs contain active substances called berberine alkaloids. *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
